Day 2: God's LOVE is WIDE and HIGH and LONG and DEEP

"I am your Salvation; trust in Me and do not be afraid. I am your strength and your song."

~ Your Heavenly Father

taken from Isaiah 12:2

One of my favorite examples
of God's finite
and detailed Love for me
is through His lingering Presence...
whilst I slumbered through the night.
It is not uncommon for me to awaken
with an old hymn
running through my mind.
I'm  usually not even focused on it.
Rarely recognize the words...
but the melody...does not cease !
When I stop
to bring the words into focus...
they spring forth into SONG!
That song follows me all day long!
God has hidden those sacred hymns
in my mind and spirit -
as He hides scripture in my heart.
Many of those great Hymns
are inspired from scripture -
and therefore carry a double impact
on the hearer as well as the singer.
When I focus on the words

They resonate in my heart.
I've learned to STOP and LISTEN ...
so the words can speak to me!
His words are life...
they are my salvation...
they strengthen and encourage.
He empowers me
through this gentle -
very very specific LOVE for me.
His Song  to me for that day
has a specific purpose.
It opens my mind's eyes and heart
to see what He's prepared for me -
things I might not have seen
in the correct light,
without His simple planting -
the seed of awareness
planted through His SONG.
I am grateful to have learned
the hymns at an early age.
They are a part of the fabric
of my spiritual being.
I rejoice for God's choice
to rejoice over me with singing.
O how WIDE, and HIGH
and LONG and DEEP -
Is His love for YOU and ME!

The Hymn
"God is our Refuge and Our Strength"
- Scottish Psalter, 1650 -
is new to me but look at the words!
Empowering lyrics for such a time as this.
It can be sung to the tune of
"America the Beautiful"

God is our Refuge and our Strength,
Our ever present Aid,
And, therefore, though the earth remove,
We will not be afraid;
Though hills amidst the sea be cast,
Though foaming waters roar,
Yes, though the mighty billows shake
The mountains on the shore.

A river flows whose streams make glad
The city of our God,
The holy place wherein the Lord
Most High has His abode;
Since God is in the midst of her,
Unmoved her walls shall stand,
For God will be her early help,
When trouble is at hand.

The nations raged, the kingdoms moved,
But when His voice was heard
The troubled earth was stilled to peace
Before His mighty Word.
The Lord of Hosts is on our side,
Our safety is secure;
The God of Jacob is for us
A refuge strong and sure.

O come, behold what wondrous works
Jehovah’s hand has wrought;
Come, see what desolation great
He on the earth has brought.
To utmost ends of all the earth
He causes war to cease;
The weapons of the strong destroyed,
He makes abiding peace.

Be still and know that I am God,
O’er all exalted high;
The subject nations of the earth
My Name shall magnify.
The Lord of Hosts is on our side,
Our safety is secure;
The God of Jacob is for us
A refuge strong and sure.

May the grace
of the Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship
of the Holy Spirit ...
be with you all.
