"I will bless you and keep you. I will make my face to shine upon you...I will turn My face toward you, and give you peace."
~ Your Heavenly Father
taken from Numbers 6:24-27When I chose 5 years ago
to bring my Dad into my home
rather than send him
to a nursing home environment...
this was the nightly blessing
that I spoke over him.
No longer in my care...
some 800 miles away -
with aids caring for
his physical needs -
He has no one to address
his spiritual needs...
but the Heavenly Father
and the Holy Spirit.
I intercede with the Spirit -
asking the Father
to whisper ...
the familiar blessing ...
in his ear.
PEACE
God's Wonderful PEACE!
Dad and I...
would sing together.
He never forgot the hymns!
They're unforgettable!
Scribed on our hearts
with indelible ink.
A favorite chorus -
"Peace Peace...
Wonderful Peace...
coming down from
the Father above -
Sweep over my spirit
forever I pray...
in fathomless
billows of LOVE."
I've learned to make
it personal by inserting
names for 'my spirit'...
"Sweep over my Daddy
Forever, I pray..."
There is no peace...
like God's peace.
A peace that passeth
all understanding.
A peace unlike
the world has ever known...
unless they KNOW God!
May you KNOW
God's peace today!
If you don't KNOW God -
personally -
Know that He ...
continually intercedes
on your behalf!
If you do KNOW God...
remember to speak...
His PEACE often
over those He's placed
in your care...
your circle of influence!
May you know how WIDE
and HIGH and LONG and DEEP
the Father's LOVE is
for You and Me!
In 1889, Warren D. Cornell
wrote the words
and W. George Cooper
wrote the music to
'Wonderful Peace' -
at a Methodist camp meeting
near West Bend, Wisconsin.
Refrain
Peace, peace,
wonderful peace,
Coming down
Coming down
from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit
Sweep over my spirit
forever, I pray
In fathomless
In fathomless
billows of love!
Far away in the depths
of my spirit tonight
Rolls a melody
sweeter than psalm;
In celestial strains
it unceasingly falls
O’er my soul
like an infinite calm.
What a treasure I have
in this wonderful peace,
Buried deep
in the heart of my soul,
So secure that no power
can mine it away,
While the years
of eternity roll!
in this wonderful peace,
Resting sweetly
in Jesus’ control;
For I’m kept
from all danger
by night and by day,
And His glory
is flooding my soul!
to that city of peace,
Where the Anchor of
peace I shall see,
That one strain
of the song
which the ransomed
will sing
In that heavenly
kingdom will be:
without comfort and rest,
Marching down the rough
pathway of time?
Make Jesus your Friend
ere the shadows grow dark;
O accept of this peace so sublime!
Oh my you are such a treasure and your knowledge of His love is blessing poured over us who are privileged to read the truth of His love and blessing through your blog....You have a Blessed Day my Dear Friend....Love you!
ReplyDeleteSherry,
DeleteYou are too kind. I appreciate that you see me as a treasure. That is something I shall remember :-)
A wonderful post for the year - so full of tenderness and love. The blessing is powerful, and so is the song. Abba Father watches over your father, and rewards you for having honored him who is your earthly father. It will go well with you and you will live long in the land. Dear friend, what a privilege it is for me to have blog friends like you - faithful and loyal to God and write posts that point us in the right direction. Blessings on this new year!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lidia for your words of blessing for my Father and me. You are so kind :)
DeleteThank you, dear sister, for your words, your encouragement and your inspiration. My journey over the past year has been an extremely hard one. I just needed to come by and read here and get refreshment. You walk with each one of us here instilling His Word, love, hope, guidance and so much more.
ReplyDeleteLove you dear friend,
Alleluiabelle

Read this and the previous ones. .. His peace... His love. .. so unfathomable! I treasure a friend who insists that she's not extra special for choosing to care for her mom. I never agree and always tell her children who choose to care for them selflessly are rare nowadays. And that's one of her characteristics that made me feel so blessed to have known her and became my frIend. While others judge her otherwise. You, sister and friend are also extraordinary! Because you truly understand what sacrificial love means. Beautiful post! That was a beautiful song from you and your father's hearts.
ReplyDeleteLong ago the Lord wrote a song in my heart which chorus goes:
And Your love is wide...wider than what my eyes can see
And Your love is long...it endures for all eternity
And Your love is high...higher than the skies and the heavens
Your love is deep...deeper than the rivers and the seas...
May this new year find you always staying strong in the Lord's mighty power!
I love god's words of song to you! Straight from the scripture...thanks for sharing that! sound like a theme song for my series here. I'm reminded of the children's song that no one sings any more...'There's a Fountain Flowing Deep and Wide" .... here's a cute little girl singing and doing the actions to the familiar song. Do you know it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Jm6TKx1JQY
DeleteOh my! What a blessing and what a lovely hymn! There is no peace like God's peace! Thank you, my sister in Christ for sharing this with us.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra for stopping by and picking up the pencil. There IS NO PEACE like GOD"S PEACE! AMEN!

Great post. : ) Beautiful words.
ReplyDeleteI took care of my dad at home too and felt blessed by being able to take care of him. He died in 1999.
Sweet to know that we share that common blessing :)
